The RTL Group will launch Geo Television, a new pay channel in Germany in cooperation with publisher Gruner + Jahr in 2014.
The news was announced by Anke Schäferkordt, co-CEO of RTL Deutschland, when talking to the Süddeutschen Zeitung newspaper.
The new channel will build on the brand of the Geo magazine, publsihed by Gruner + Jahr, and will bring documentaries with a high production value. Geo TV will launch during the first six months of 2014.
Schäferkordt also said she hoped the bottom of the European TV advertising market has now been reached, “I am hoping that the market will not slide any further during the next few months.”
