Telekom Austria addresses Bulgarian challenge

Telekom Austria has announced a number of important personnel changes in its operations in Central and Eastern Europe, effective October 1.

Thanasis Katsiroumpas, hitherto CEO of Vip mobile in Serbia, will take over as CEO of Mobiltel in Bulgaria.

He will also be responsible for Mobiltel’s marketing agenda, with the company’s management board being reduced from four to three members.

Andras Maierhofer, currently the CEO of Mobiltel, will return to Austria and not extend his expiring contract.

Martin Lippautz, the former CMO of Mobiltel, will also leave the Telekom Austria group, while Andras Graf, CFO of Vip mobile in Serbia, has been appointed the company’s interim CEO/CMO.

Significantly, in commenting about the changes, Telekom Austria CEO Hannes Ametsreiter conceded that, “Bulgaria is currently the most difficult market within the Telekom Austria Group”.
