Eutelsat is looking at the launch of new regional platforms, similar to its established Kabelkiosk, the headend-in-the-sky that offers a managed service of linear and VOD channels to operators in Germany.
Recently appointed director of commercial development Markus Fritz told Broadband TV News ventures such as Kabelkiosk have already brought multiplatform competence to a much broader scale. The Paris-based operator is now exploring how it can rollout Kabelkiosk and other services across territories.
“If you are interested in value across solutions, such as what we have established with Fransat and its smart TV solutions, we can offer that with the lessons learnt,” says Fritz. Already the Fransat model has been exported through the Freesat operation in Romania. “We differentiate from our competitors in that we prefer our customers to do the platform management and have other projects run the service.” However, Fritz indicates that Eutelsat is not averse to participating in a joint venture.
Germany’s Kabelkiosk is now combining DVB, IP and OTT in a single, hybrid offer for multiple screens. It is delivered from Eutelsat 9A at nine degrees East.
