Dutch public broadcaster NOS has launched a new version of its NOS Journaal news app which allows users to view videos on their smart TV.
The app gives on-demand access to all NOS newscasts and a number of current affairs programmes as well as live streams of the channels Journaal 24, Politiek 24 and Sport 24, as well as live coverage of selected press conferences and live Champions League football.
With the latest update, the app also slings the on-demand programming to any smart TV set. At the moment, NOS runs a test phase, only on the iOS version of the app. In order to work, the iOS device and the TV set need to be on the same local WiFi network.
The app supports Samsung, Sony, Philips, Panasonic, LG, WD TV Live, Xbox, XBMC and Windows Media Player. The iOS app works on iPhones and iPads.
