The leading Ukrainian cable operator Volia has been issued an official warning by the country’s National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting.
According to Kommersant, it follows an audit of the company’s activities in the city of Dnepropetovsk during which the regulator identified a number of violations.
If these are not corrected within a month, the Council has the right to fine Volia, and then if it does not improve take legal action to have its licence withdrawn.
Volia was found to be distributing 17 channels, six of which were foreign, without the Council’s permission.
It was also not offering subscribers the full number of universal (must-carry) channels.
Volia disputes the latter.
Although this is the second official warning the cable operator has received this year, it is unlikely to face serious sanctions.
