The Polish alternative telco Netia plans to double its TV subscriber total within the next 18 months.
In a wide ranging interview with Gazeta Prawna, its president Miroslaw Godlewski said that thanks to entering the TV market the company is able to offer triple play services and compete not only with the incumbent TP (Orange) but also cable operators.
It has also allowed Netia to stabilise the take-up of its internet services.
Netia currently has 100,000 pay-TV subscribers, and though this is not far off the 150,000 and 160,000 claimed by the cable operators Inea and Toya respectively, it is still a long way behind UPC Polska (1.5 million), nc+ (2.4 million) and Cyfrowy Polsat (3.6 million).
Netia’s plans for next year include the addition of more functions to its Netia Player product.
