Ofcom chairman Colette Bowe is to step down from the board of the media and communications regulator, when her term ends in March 2014.
Ms Bowe was appointed as Ofcom Chairman in March 2009 for a five-year period. Prior to this, she was the first chairman of Ofcom’s Consumer Panel and joined the main Board in 2008.
“I am extremely proud of the fact that Ofcom has served citizens and consumers, and achieved so much while also reducing its cost base,” said Colette. “It has been a privilege to chair such a strong board which is absolutely focused on delivering on Ofcom’s priorities.”
Ms Bowe said she believed it to be in the best interests of Ofcom and its independence to make clear her term as chairman was fixed.
