Regis Saint Girons new president French HD Forum

Regis Saint GironsThe French HD Forum has appointed Regis Saint Girons, CEO httv, as new president.

Regis succeeds to Jean-Pierre Lacotte from Technicolor, who will become president of honor of the HD Forum association after serving eight years as president.

HD forum was originally created in 2005 to coordinate the industry player’s actions on HD television. Through Jean-Pierre Lacotte’s leadership, it has widen its scope and is now an association of reference in the audiovisual industry which works on subjects as the improvement of TV sounds, 3D, Connected TV and DVB-T2.

With over 30 members, the association also participates actively to the definition and deployment of the HbbTV standard in coordination with the HbbTV consortium. It has led, the HbbTV specification for the French DTT called “TNT 2.0”.

Régis Saint Girons is a key figure of the middleware and digital TV industry with more than 20 years of experience, first through Technicolor where he positioned MPEG as the solution for the US HDTV standard, then through OpenTV that he has co-founded and that was one of the original HbbTV consortium founder. In August 2012 he has joined httv, a leader solution provider for Digital and Connected TV.

“The French HD Forum has been at the forefront of the Digital TV industry. Its unique combination of Broadcasters, Operators, Manufacturers, Editors and Technology providers has been instrumental to improve the quality of the Digital TV service. In particular its work on HbbTV 1.5 with the TNT2.0 specification has been a reference for many other European countries” said Régis Saint Girons “I am looking forward to keep driving this work further”.
