Three broadcasters have submitted proposals to operate a TV service on the Moscow metro.
According to Kommersant, TV Center, which is owned by the city authorities, plans to spend the most money on the project – R6.49 million (€161,000) over five years – and Moscow 24, also controlled by the city authorities, and state-run RTR a much lower R1.5 million and R1.1 million respectively.
The minimum value of the contract over the five-year period has been set at R1.1 million.
The circle line on the Moscow metro has had free WiFi since March 2012 and the TV channel should make its debut in January 2014.
It will be funded entirely by the licence holder and required to broadcast news at least once an hour.
