Hulu recently announced they have doubled the number of Hulu Plus paid subscribers to four million over the course of the last year.
Mobile viewing is growing at a significant rate and will account for approximately 15% of Hulu’s consumed videos in 2013-2014. For context, mobile viewing was nonexistent on our service only two years ago. Living room viewing is also growing; it currently accounts for 29% of Hulu’s content consumption, and 80% of Hulu Plus subscribers have watched with someone else.
The company also set a new record for revenue in the quarter, although exact figures were not disclosed. For the first time Hulu passed more than 1 billion videos streamed in a single quarter.
Hulu also announced 11 new original shows, including the animated series The Awesomes with Saturday Night Live’s Seth Meyers; Quick Draw, a half-hour comedic Western; the high school drama East Los High and others.
Hulu works with more than 470 partners and have more than 70,000 television episodes available collectively across free and paid memberships.
