TV3 Latvia has been fined LVL6,000 (€8,553) by the country’s National Electronic Mass Media Council (NEPLP) for showing advertising that indirectly promoted gambling.
According to NEPLP’s president Ainars Dimants, the action ran counter to gambling and lotteries statutory provision, designed to prevent various groups, including teenagers and young adults, from being lured to try addictive gambling.
The violations were first recorded on the channels TV3 and TV6 on October 31 last year.
