Belgacom has reported a growing customer base for its TV and fixed internet products, adding 175,000 during 2012.
This resulted in a 14% year-on-year increased its TV customer base to 1,386,000, representing a 32% market share for digital TV. The operator said it now has 25% of the total TV market including analogue TV.
By comparison, cable now has 64% market share of the digital TV market, the remaining going to DTT and satellite DTH.
Belgacom TV penetration among its fixed line homes now stands at 76%, a success which is mainly due to the selling of ‘packs’, which start at €21.50 for TV only
In the fourth quarter of the year Belgacom added 46,900 TV subs (net) in Q4, 2012. Belgacom said its TV revenue over Q4 was EUR 62 million and an ARPU of €18.20, showing 3.9% growth supported by price increase of the rented set-top boxes.
