Verimatrix to secure Com Hem TiVo services

February 19, 2013 10.50 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Com Hem familyThe Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) will be used by Com Hem’s advanced multiscreen TV services scheduled to launch in the spring.

Swedish cablenet Com Hem is launching new advanced services that will be delivered using the TiVo platform. Com Hem’s broadcast and hybrid STBs will feature advanced cardless ViewRight clients that complement enhanced HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) ViewRight Web support for PC/Mac, tablet and mobile devices – all from a single conditional access (CA) platform.

Jens Persson, development manager of Com Hem, stated, “We recognise Verimatrix as to provide value in securing our new multi-network services. A single source for rights management across linear and on-demand content offers our customers the absolute best television experience. Verimatrix has provided excellent support in the integration of VCAS with TiVo and we look forward to launching one of the world’s most advanced TV services.”

“We are delighted to be chosen by Com Hem for this leading-edge deployment that highlights the power of hybrid network architectures. Providing an integrated experience across these touch points demands a sophisticated combination of user interface, metadata and security technologies.” added Steve Oetegenn, chief sales and marketing officer, Verimatrix. “We feel that the partnership between TiVo and Verimatrix provides a compelling combination of strengths to Com Hem that optimize quality, functionality and the consumer experience.”

Com Hem is the leading supplier of pay television in the Swedish market. Approximately 40%, 1.74 million, of Sweden’s households are connected to Com Hem’s network, with access to the market’s broadest range of television services.
