100,000 subs for OTE TV

October 16, 2012 09.51 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Greek IPTV platform OTE TV has passed 100,000 subscribers with the operator saying the service is steadily gaining in viewer preference and trust.

“Television is a main pillar of OTE’s commercial strategy,” said OTE Group COO, Zacharias Piperidis. “The dynamic growth and increasing subscriber base of OTE TV clearly demonstrates that the service is steadily gaining ground in the Greek market. In addition, it confirms that, despite recession, pay-TV still has considerable room for growth in our country.”

Last year the IPTV platform was joined by a sister satellite service broadcast from Eutelsat’s Eurobird 9A at 9 degrees East.

The OTE TV subscription service currently offers more than 55 thematic channels and free-to-air channels including HD. Additional movie and sports channels are slated for launch.
