Tricolor makes surprise HD move

October 11, 2012 08.00 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The leading Russian DTH platform Tricolor TV has suspended the distribution of the film channels Kinopokaz HD-1 and Kinopokaz HD-2.

In a statement, it says that this is due to the suspension of an agreement between itself and the company 1TVCH, which operates the two channels and in which it acquired a stake in Q1 this year.

Tricolor TV adds that before making a decision on the distribution of the channels they will be broadcast exclusively in its Maximum HD package.

In practice, this means that they will disappear from other pay-TV platforms, starting with those operated by MTS and then Vimpelcom, Rostelecom and ER Telecom.

Tricolor TV introduced a HD channels to its offer this summer and as of the end of last month they were already being received by 250,000 of its subscribers.
