The Israeli cable operator HOT has decided to shut down its remaining analogue services in the next year and become completely digital.
According to Haaretz, the move will not effect most subscribers but hit the tens or possibly even hundreds of thousands of viewers who watch the services illegally.
HOT’s legal analogue subscriber total stood at 51,000 at the end of 2011, or less than half the 108,000 recorded a year earlier.
Analogue services were withdrawn from Jerusalem last year and were also recently stopped in Shoham.
HOT’s subscriber total stood at over 880,000 as of Q1 this year.
