Viewster launches mobile VOD apps

October 7, 2012 17.47 Europe/London By Robert Briel

VOD platform Viewster is launching mobile apps for iOS and Android and is overhauling its VOD website.

The new look site gives users improved navigation, making it easier to find the movies they’re looking for. Movies will be searchable and presented in a clearer way and the new ‘What’s Hot’ section provides up-to-date information on movies, actors, and TV shows.

Two first-time iOS (for iPhone and iPad) and Android apps, launched at the same time, will also showcase the new Viewster design, while providing both users and advertisers with seamless, cross device delivery. Connected devices will be updated with the new look Viewster, as manufacturer approvals are secured. These include smart TVs fro Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Vestel and Grundig.

“Viewster’s revamp isn’t restricted to user experience, however. “As we make the platform more attractive,” said Viewster CEO, Kai Henniges, in a statemen “we are confronted with a continuous and substantial increase in views.”

To this end, Viewster’s back-end has been completely re-engineered to meet the rising traffic demand. The new system significantly reduces load times and improves overall performance.

Movies on Viewster are available in five languages: English, German, Spanish, French and Italian.

The new mobile app works in all countries including: US, UK, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Turkey, Russia, India, Austria, Switzerland, Scandinavia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxemburg
