US-based developer iMediaShare has just released a new widget offering a Watch on TV button that can be embedded within any online video, allowing site visitors to instantly shift content from their smartphones or tablets directly to their TVs with just one click.
iMediaShare is using iPhone and Android phones as a remote to beam online videos to connected televisions. Content providers can get setup for free with the Watch on TV widget in a few minutes.
iMediaShare’s new Watch on TV widget works just like the Facebook like button. When placed next to a video uploaded to any mobile website, readers can click it to view the content directly on their TV sets.
All users need is the free iMediaShare app on their smartphone or tablet, which they can automatically download in seconds if it’s not already installed – there’s no complicated setup, pairing, or hardware required.
“You’ve seen it, a crowd of people gathered around a smartphone or tablet, trying to share their favorite videos on a limited viewing space. That frustration is what has made iMediaShare so popular, allowing consumers to enjoy online media on the largest possible screen,” said Metodi Filipov of Bianor, the company that created iMediaShare.
“The Watch on TV widget now lets publishers, bloggers and media companies take advantage of the same technology, and push their content to a larger network for significantly more views.”
The company claims over 2.5 million downloads and growing. The software streams home videos, movies, web content and more from the smaller screen onto network-enabled TVs, gaming consoles and other connected devices.
The app is available on iTunes as a free download or as a $4.99 (€3.88) ad-free version, which also supports HD video.
