Video search engine blinkx has unveiled an open beta of its flagship product, blinkx.com.
The new site has been designed to enhance the video discovery and viewing experience for audiences, with personalization and recommendation capabilities. The new user interface placed an emphasis on mobile devices.
“The rise of social networks and the proliferation of powerful connected devices have profoundly changed the way that we interact with the Web,” said Matt Scheybeler, CTO, blinkx. “We use search as a starting point less often, and instead, we’ve become comfortable scanning and processing long streams of information – Facebook pages and Twitter feeds – a content universe delivered to us by our friends and the people we follow, and increasingly, we’re accessing that content through tablets and smartphones.”
Included in the new look blinkx is a constantly updated stream of video customized through topics the user has chosen to follow and viewing preferences.
It will also be possible for viewers to start watching video on one device, hit pause and pick it up again at the same point on a different device.
