Poland’s Office of Consumer and Competition Protection (UOKiK) has finally given the go-ahead to the merger of the DTH platforms Cyfra+ and n.
It comes nine months after an agreement was reached between Canal+, ITI Group and TVN and five months after the UOKiK began an investigation into it, at the request of the European Commission.
The transaction between the parties is now likely to be completed by the end of the year, with the merger process starting right afterwards.
The new platform will be owned by Canal+ (51%), TVN (32%) and Liberty Global (17%).
It will have around 2.5 million subscribers, compared to the 3.5 million currently claimed by Cyfrowy Polsat, the market leader.
