QVC launches Android app on Google TV

September 4, 2012 20.52 Europe/London By Robert Briel

German teleshopping channel QVC is now available with an interactive Android App on Google TV.

The QVC App is on Google TV in the Play Store and available as a free download. The app offers an interactive catalogue from QVC and viewers can click through it using their remote control. They can watch a product video and then order the product directly with the remote.

Dr. Ulrich Flatten, CEO QVC Germany, said in a statement: “With Google TV convergence is finally a reality. The classic medium of television and the internet are connected with one click. QVC is proud to be one of the first German TV providers that offer such a specially developed app. This is an important step in our strategy as a leader in multimedia online retailing. This also underlines our position as an innovator in the home shopping business. ”

QVC has earlier launched a HbbTV application, as well as apps for smart TVs.
