Denmark’s YouSee has posted revenues of DKK2,267 million (€304.5 million) for the first half of this year, or 6.5% more than in the same period in 2011.
Its gross profit rose by 4.7% to DKK1,320 million over the same period, while EBITDA was up by 10.5% to DKK829 million.
YouSee’s basic TV operation was boosted by the shutdown of the MPEG-2 signal and TV2’s change in status to a pay-TV channel at the beginning of the year and the addition of a large antenna association helped boost the RGU total by 18,000.
Premium TV revenues were 5.4% higher than in H1 2011, while the RGU base increased by 11,000.
Significantly, VOD usage was 230% higher in the first half than in the same period in 2011 and the company plans to add a further three HD channels to its offer – currently at 21 – later this month.
The TDC group as a whole attracted 72,000 more TV subscribers in H1 than a year earlier. TDC’s revenues were up by 0.5% to DKK13.2 billion and EBITDA fell by 0.7% to DKK5.1 billion.
