Dutch cablenet Ziggo has launched its own streaming music service.
Ziggo Music has two pricepoints; Ziggo Music and Ziggo Music Anywhere at €4.96 and €9.95 respectively. Ziggo Music is aimed at home use Ziggo Music Everywhere makes it possible to store music so that it can be heard without an internet connection.
The operator says that by placing an emphasis on Dutch music it will be distinctive from other services in the market – operators in Sweden and the UK have gone with the popular internet service Spotify.
“Our customers want to experience things and then live that experience or share it with their friends. Technically we achieve this by running our own sercices wherever possible,” said Pieter Vervoort, VP Innovation, Ziggo.
Ziggo Music will have its own editor, who will look for local trends, and reflect venues, such as the operator’s own Ziggo Dome.
