The Romanian incumbent telco Romtelecom has secure the rights to the UEFA Champions League for the next three seasons.
In a statement, the company says this was following the submission of a successful offer with another Romanian telco, which it does not name.
It adds that the competition will be broadcast on its proprietary channel Dolce Sport, as well as the other operator’s dedicated sports channels, allowing for a high viewership.
The rights include all live matches, reruns and summaries from Tuesday to Wednesday evenings and the weekly magazine of the UEFA Champions League.
Romtelecom, which is backed by Greece’s OTE, is a leading player in Romania’s pay-TV sector, with interests in the DTH, IPTV and cable sectors.
