The Latvian Performers and Producers Association (LaIPA) have decided to take legal action against Izzi, one of the country’s leading cable operators.
According to DB, it has turned to the Riga Regional Court to claim unspecified damages from Izzi for the non-payment of copyright fees.
Although the dispute between the two parties has been going on for some time, LaIPA has until now avoided turning to the law.
Izzi is backed by the Luxembourg-based company Contaq Latvia Cable Holding and ended last year with around 120,000 subscribers.
Baltcom, the market leader and with which it nearly merged last year, meanwhile had some 140,000.
