UPC Nederland has added Sony Pictures Television to its VOD library including recent titles such as Tintin, Moneyball, Straw Dogs and classics including Men in Black, Gandhi and Lawrence of Arabia. The operator also said that during 2011 75% of all its digital TV subscribers used on-demand and a total of 60 million movies and programmes were requested.
UPC has also launched a new channel from SBS Broadcasting on its Dutch network, called TV Interactief bringing home shopping and call TV type of programming including adult entertainment during the night time. Although a linear channel at the moment, TV Interactief is destined to become fully interactive using red button applications.
Viacom is launching three HD simulcasts on UPC and Ziggo in the Netherlands, MTV HD, Nickelodeon HD and Comedy Central HD. MTV HD will take the place of MTV Live HD.
