German private broadcaster Tele 5 will start broadcasting a dedicated Austrian free-to-air channel on Astra on May 1.
Tele 5 is owned and operated by the Tele München Gruppe and was launched ten years ago with programming mainly focused on movies.
The group already has two channels available in Austria, ATV and ATV 2, and is a shareholder in RTL II. TMG holding’s include the German Cinemax cinema chain, Concorde Filmverleih, Concorde Home Entertainment and CineMedia Film.
Tele 5 Austria will start broadcasting in SD on the Astra satellite at 19 degrees East.
