CABLE CONGRESS 2012 – BRUSSELS. Ninety six per cent of people believe too many connected solutions take the “bad” of computers and bring it to TV.
Furthermore, 92% of people have devices in their homes with unrealised capabilities because they can’t work out how they work. Both findings are contained in a study undertaken last year by Rovi in the US, Canada, Germany and Italy and were included in a presentation by Charles Dawes, product management director, service provider solutions EMEA, Rovi.
Other key findings of the study were that in multiperson households 97% of people engaged in three types of viewing – alone, with spouse and together – and that 72% of participants picked up watching a “new” series which is no longer available.
Speaking in a session entitled Integrating social media into cross-platform user experiences, Dawes said: “content desired is dependent on the split-persona consumption, location, time of day, device type, allotted time and mood.
