Controversy is growing in Israel over the cable operator HOT’s new internet service, which is offered independent of any other party.
According to Haaretz, subscribers who wanted internet access from the company had until now had to rely on both HOT and the telco Bezeq, with the former providing the infrastructure and latter acting as an ISP.
HOT is pricing its new internet product at only NIS20 (€4.07) a month, which is significantly less than competitors such as 012 Smile, 013 NetVision and Bezeq International charge.
The regulator has acted by prohibiting HOT from adding its new internet service its existing triple play offer, which includes internet access at up to 100 Mbps.
