Pathe Thuis (Pathe at Home), the new Dutch video on demand service from Pathe cinemas, is set to launch on Philips and other smart TVs during the next few months.
Pathe launched its VOD service last December and is already available on Samsung Smart TVs. Next on the agenda is Net TV from Philips, which will include all other CE companies using the Net TV standard.
Philips Net TV already offers the Videoland VOD service, while Samsung offers both Pathe Thuis and MovieMax.
Pathe Thuis offers movies for rent during a 48 hour window or as download to own. Titles will be refreshed every week and become available as soon as four months after the initial theatrical release date.
Speaking at a connected TV conference in Hilversum, Pathe’s deputy managing director Marc Canisius said he is also talking to platforms including Ziggo, UPC and KPN to include the company’s VOD service.
