The MTG-owned channel TV3 will no longer be available as a FTA terrestrial service in Latvia from the beginning of next year.
According to DB, the move has been criticised by the rival station LNT, which has called an extraordinary meeting to discuss a course of action.
It has also caused concern at the incumbent Lattelecom, which has a contract to broadcast TV3 as a FTA service until 2013 and believes it will be honoured.
TV3’s switch from a FTA to paid service will only affect only around 15% of Latvian homes that still receive FTA services, with the vast majority of TV3 viewers already watching the channel via cable or DTH.
