Customers on Virgin Media’s MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) are now being given access to the Orange mobile phone network in addition to that of the T-Mobile network they already use.
It means increased coverage for Virgin customers, taking advantage of the Orange network in places where T-Mobile is unavailable.
Both Orange and T-Mobile are part of the Everything Everywhere joint venture.
Graeme Oxby, executive director of home phone and mobile at Virgin Media said: “Virgin Media customers already enjoy the UK’s fastest broadband and the most advanced TV services, now they’ll benefit from enhanced mobile coverage too.”
Customers will be automatically enabled from later this month, although some phones may require a firmware update. The network name ‘Virgin’ will be displayed for customers on the standard Virgin Mobile network, and ‘virgin’2 when roaming onto the Orange network.
