The newly rebranded Latvian cable operator Baltcom aims to become the leading provider of TV and internet services in the Baltic Republics by 2015.
This will be thanks to nearly €50 million in foreign investment this year and in 2012, which is being used on major network modernisation and expansion.
The coverage of its fibre optic network is expected to almost triple from its current level of 90,000 to around 250,000 by next year.
Both Baltcom and the rival cable operator Izzi, with which it nearly merged earlier this year, face strong competition from the incumbent telco Lattelecom.
Backed by TeliaSonera, it operates both an IPTV service and the country’s DTT platform.
