Accedo and Roku have announced the availability of Accedo’s Funspot games on the Roku 2 platform. Roku 2, the newest line of streaming players from Roku, brings casual games to the TV alongside Roku’s growing selection of video and music entertainment.
Accedo’s Funspot portfolio of games contains a range of casual games including board, arcade, strategy and puzzles. The entire game portfolio has been designed to work well in a living room environment with remote control interaction.
“Casual games are popular TV applications, and we think that the new Roku 2 devices are very attractive for our range of Funspot games”, said Accedo CEO Michael Lantz, in a statement. “Initially, we are launching a range of games from categories like board, arcade, puzzle, casino and cards, which we think will be an excellent complement to the Roku experience.”
Seven Accedo games are now available to Roku 2 customers for $.99 (€0.70) each, and include the following titles: Kaboom, Sudoku, Patience, Rockswap Adventures, Texas Hold’Em, Mahjong Fruits and Dracula’s Coffin. Additional Accedo games will be available in the future. The games can be purchased in the Roku Channel Store and can be played with or without the game remote that comes included with the Roku 2 XS player.
“With our recent launch of Roku 2 and support for casual games, we plan to grow our games library significantly,” said Roku Founder and CEO Anthony Wood. “We’re taking a step towards that goal with the addition of fun and easy-to-play Accedo games, which we believe are going to be a big hit with Roku 2 customers.”
Roku 2 is available in the US in three models: the Roku 2 HD, Roku 2 XD and Roku 2 XS, and start at a suggested retail of $59.99 (€42). All Roku players feature 300 channels of streaming entertainment, including movies and TV shows from Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video and Crackle; live and on-demand sports from NHL, MLS and UFC; music from Pandora, MOG, Rdio and TuneIn Radio; photos and videos from Facebook, Flickr and Vimeo; plus news and entertainment from around the world.
