The leading Czech broadcaster TV Nova has applied to the country’s Radio and TV Council (RRTV) for a licence to operate a new channel.
According to several local reports, the channel will target male viewers and has been given the working title Kanal 5.
However, it may eventually be called Nova Action, whose name has been registered by the broadcaster and is similar to bTV Action, a channel operated by TV Nova’s owner CME in Bulgaria that also targets male viewers.
TV Nova already operates the thematic channels Nova Cinema and Nova Sport, as well as a localised version of MTV.
