Further details have emerged about the channels trying secure carriage on what will be Ukraine’s first four DTT multiplexes.
Aside from the 12 applications lodged by Inter, there have, according to Kommentarii, been four and five respectively from Viktor Pinchuk’s StarLightMedia and TRK Ukraine.
Group 1+1 has filed four applications and there have also been a host of individual applications for niche channels.
The latter include business (UBR), kids (Malyatko TV) and even real estate (RealEstate TV), with some companies even promising to start broadcasting right away in HD.
The leading Russian broadcaster ORT is also understood to have applied for a licence to operate a DTT channel specifically tailored for the Ukrainian market.
Ukraine’s National Council on Radio and Television will vote on the bids tomorrow (August 18) and are prepared to organise further competitions if they cannot choose the 28 channels for the four multiplexes
