UPDATED. Media Broadcast, a company of the TDF Group and service provider to the broadcast and media industry, has been selected by the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) to conduct a DVB-T2 technical trial in the city state.
In a separate statement, MediaCorp, Singapore’ largest media broadcaster and provider with 8 television channels and 13 radio channels, has announced it selected Enensys equipment for its DVB-T2 trial network to prepare for DVB-T2 deployment.
MediaCorp will set up a trial network to showcase DVB-T2 MultiPLP capability in delivering SD, HD and 3DTV programs within a single frequency during Broadcast Asia 2011 held in Suntec Singapore from 21 to 24 June 2011. The trial network will subsequently be expanded for a DTV-T2 Trial commissioned by the MDA.
In this project, Enensys provides the DVB-T2 key elements: the DVB-T2 Gateway, installed at the Head End site, and the DVB-T2 modulator.
Media Broadcast will provide technical consultancy to design and manage the technical trial for deriving the suitable T2 transmission modes and technical parameters. From the beginning of August 2011, Media Broadcast will run a comprehensive trial together with local broadcasters, analysing the quality of in-house, outdoor and mobile reception to define a best-fit specification of the planned T2 network design.
“We are glad and proud to support the development of the new Singapore digital terrestrial broadcasting network – currently the most ambitious DVB-T2-network worldwide. After having supported ABU’s (Asian Pacific Union) DVB-T2 demonstration in Kuala Lumpur/Malaysia in spring we are happy to extend our footprint in the region”, Media Broadcast CEO Bernd Kraus stated.
“The cooperation with MDA and partners is a true cornerstone project of our market development in the greater ASEAN region. Based on our longstanding experience, proven excellence in DVB-T2 and German engineering expertise, we will support this network trial to set up a strong basis for a powerful start into the age of digital TV in Singapore.”
