Subscribers to the Romanian DTH platform Focus Sat are now being asked to pay an activation fee upon signing a contract.
ZF reports that the fee of RON50 (€12.2) provides them with free equipment and installation, as well as three months of TV services.
Liberty Global’s Focus Sat is currently the only DTH platform in Romania to bear the full cost of reception equipment.
This, coupled with the large number of channels it offers in its cheaper package, have contributed to a significant increase in take-up, with the number of subscribers rising from 187,400 to nearly 230,000 in the last six months of 2010.
