RTL Nederland has acquired the Dutch radio station Slam!FM and the digital TV chnanel Slam!TV from its owner Lex Harding. No financial details were issued.
Slam!TV, a video clip channel, is distributed on the Ziggo cable network as part of its digital tier; from July 1, the channel will also (again) become available on UPC digital. In selected cities, Slam!TV will also be distributed as part of the basic analogue tier. A number of local programme councils have selected the clips channel as a replacement for TMF, which is no longer available for basic analogue distribution.
Slam!TV returns to the UPC network, where it was available until March 31, 2011 as part of a digital music bouquet. However, when UPC decided to drop the music bouquet, Slam!TV was no longer available on the network.
RTL will add the FM only Slam!FM to its ‘family of radio stations’, which include Radio 538 (FM and AM) and Radio 10 Gold (AM only). Sl;am!TV is also available as a free-to-view Web TV stream.
