RGB Networks will be using its presence at ANGA Cable to demonstrate a series of technologies designed to enhance the deployment of multiscreen television services. These include RGB’s award-winning Video Multiprocessing Gateway and RGB’s streaming product, the TransAct Packager.
As always the key question that runs alongside the introduction of any new product is how it will be monetized. RGB says the advanced ad insertion capabilities of its Gateway product enable operators to extend their existing advertising strategies to any video enabled companion device.
Working alongside the VMG, RGB’s TransAct Packager produces segmented output in Apple HTTP Live Streaming, Microsoft Smooth Streaming and Adobe HTTP Dynamic Streaming formats for delivery to IP-based devices. The objective is to ensure that operators are capable of taking premium video content, whatever the format.
“With mobile and tablet video emerging as an integral part of the video experience, cable operators must introduce new delivery and monetisation technologies in order to ensure they are not left behind,” said Nabil Kanaan, senior director, product marketing, RGB Networks. “However, this is not without its complications, and infrastructure challenges and cost can often act as barriers to adoption.”
