Normandie TV launches HbbTV pilot service

April 14, 2011 10.22 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Normandie TV is the first French broadcaster to carry HbbTV services over digital terrestrial and chose HyperPanel Lab and Access powered HbbTV terrestrial set-top boxes for its pilot services.

Normandie TV will use HyperPanel Lab’s HbbTV solution, including Access’ NetFront browser DTV profile. The set-top boxes will provide Normandie TV viewers with additional services, e.g. access to local information such as news and weather from their television sets.

“We’re delighted that Normandie TV has chosen our HbbTV solution to power its HbbTV pilot services, the first live stream that carries HbbTV service in France,” said Laoreato Santonastasi, CEO of HyperPanel Lab, in a statement.

“Normandie TV’s HbbTV offering is just the beginning of what’s set to be the rapid growth of HbbTV in 2011 throughout Europe,” said Dr Neale Foster, VP of global sales, IA, at Access.
