AirTies adopts Ekioh UI

March 23, 2011 08.50 Europe/London By Julian Clover

IP&TV WORLD FORUM – LONDON. AirTies is partnering with Ekioh to bring improved animation and graphics onto its set-top boxes. The Cambridge company’s UI and browser have been added by the Turkish developer of receivers and network devices in response to customer demand.

AirTies is hoping that the use of Ekioh will help sales in Central & East Europe where Ekioh is already widely deployed.

According to Jim Lomax, EVP sales, AirTies, “Ease of use and quality of the user experience are key watch words for the IPTV and OTT market.  We believe that Ekioh’s SVG based flexible UI engine and browser combined with our own cutting edge STB design will set the bar for the STB of the future.”

Stephen Reeder, commercial director, Ekioh added, “Our two organisations share a determination to provide a user experience second to none and AirTies innovation in the delivery of wireless IPTV set top  boxes combined with their Air Touch technology for simple set up offers a compelling solution for both the retail and operator market place.”

The Ekioh browser and UI is based on Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), known for its superior ability to render graphics. One key advantage of the new UI is its ability to scale up or down between SD and HD resolutions seamlessly and its ability to deliver the optimal resolution based on the resolution and dimensions of the screen available.
