Bulgaria’s transition to digital broadcasting could be about to be thrown into disarray by the European Commission.
According to a report in Novinite, the EC looks likely to declare highly controversial tenders for the operation of DTT multiplexes null and void.
An investigation was launched by the EC last summer, prompted by the conflicting requirements for eligible bidders.
As things currently stand, Hannu Pro is set to operate four of Bulgaria’s six DTT multiplexes.
The others will be operated by NURTS Bulgaria, a joint venture between Vivacom (BTC) and the financial investment company Mancelord Limited.
