MyZen TV launches native 3D channel

January 7, 2011 08.22 Europe/London By Robert Briel

The French based channel myZen TV has announced the launch of “the first 100% native 3D linear channel in Europe.” Free is the first operator to carry the channel 24 hours a day as part of its 3D bouquet.

According to the channel, the decision to broadcast only native 3D content was made because research by PriceWaterhouseCoopers has shown that up-converted images do not offer a true 3D experience and only lead to disappointment.

In the words of their press release “myZen 3D offers an experience of well-being, espcailly because its format is perfectly suited to wearing glasses. Indeed, the viewer enters its “bubble” and can follow relaxation exercises set by the coach’s voice in beautiful images of the most beautiful places in the world, using the pristine nature that flows in his living room … ”

MyZen TV was launch at the end of 2007 as the first 100% native HD channel dedicated to “well being” offering landscape pictures, relaxing music and, as an option, a voice over offering relaxation exercises. It is carried in about 40 countries on over 100 platforms.
