Naxoo extends programme package

December 16, 2010 10.36 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Naxoo has extended its digital offer with the addition of nine new channels including four from the UK domestic market.

The Geneva-based operator has made the French national channels TF1 and M6 as well as culture channel Arte available in the HD format to those subscribers with a Drivebox HD. It means a total of seven HD channels are now bundled in with the minthly CHF 18 decoder rental.

“The high definition experience is becoming more accessible. We look forward to proposing new channels in HD to our subscribers. The audiovisual market is now firmly directed towards a better reception quality and our goal is to continue to enrich our offering of HD channels in 2011, “said Patrick Baud-Lavigne, CEO of 022 Télégenève SA – Naxoo.

In all Naxoo offers 12 channels in the HD format, including Eurosport, National Geographic, Disney Cinemagic  and iConcerts. The operator is looking to take advantage of a 50% market penetration of HD Ready television displays.

Also joining the digital line-up are UK originated channels Channel 4, Five, E4 and More 4. All four broadcast free-to-air on the Astra satellite at 28 degrees East and as such can be freely distributed under Swiss law. Channels from BBC and ITV have been available for some time.

Albanian channels Vizion Plus TV and TVSH complete the new line-up.
