The German cable operator Kabel Deutschland will this week add six HD channels and will market is as an HD Option for €9.90 a month.
The cabler’s new HD bouquet will consist of Fox HD, TNT Serie HD, TNT Film HD, Syfy HD, National Geographic HD and the new Sport1+ HD. Subscribers will need to rent a special HD PVR costing €5.00 monthly. The PVR will come free for subscribers to premium or extended tiers.
Basic subscribers have access to Das Erste HD, ZDF HD and Arte HD as part of their basic subscription. For the moment, Kabel Deutschland viewers have no access to the HD versions of the main commercial channels ProSieben, Sat.1, Kabel1, RTL, Vox and RTL2.
Sky subscribers can buy an additional Sky HD bouquet, which consists of Sky Sport HD, Discovery HD, Sky Cinema HD, Eurosport HD, History HD and Disney Cinemagic HD.
