Peter Percosan has been named as the new managing director of Cable Europe Labs (CEL), succeeding Malcolm Taylor, who stays on as an advisor.
The appointment was welcomed by Lorenz Glatz, the Kabel Deutschland executive, who is chair of Cable Europe Labs’ CTO Committee. “Peter understands both the technical and commercial aspects of our industry. Peter’s personal drive and in depth knowledge will no doubt be instrumental in driving CEL’s initiatives and in facilitating even closer co-operation between Cable Europe Labs’ members as well as between Europe and the rest of the world.”
Percosan joined Cable Europe Labs as an advisor in 2009 and has been the organisation’s chief technology officer for the past 15 months. He has spent 25 years in the industry including spells as executive director of broadband strategy for Texas Instrument’s Digital Connected Home and as VP of strategic marketing at Lysis.
“I am excited at the opportunity to achieve scale in a meaningful way with the cable industry. One of my goals is to advance bridge building with transatlantic and international industry peers. I think that the possibility to increase scale merits more attention and I intend to capitalize on this,” says Percosan. “Europe is about the same size as North America yet perceived as having only pockets of innovation. We’re looking ahead to some very crucial years for our industry and are ready to see investments made to date come to fruition and push cable’s competitive advantages further into the technology marketplace.”
