Romania’s Ministry of Communications and Information Society (MCIS) is likely to formulate a strategy for the transition to digital broadcasting within the next two to three months.
The news was given by Valerian Vreme, the minister of communications, who quoted in ZF added that it may be possible the National Radiocommunications Company (SNR) or Romanian Television Corporation will receive digital TV licences.
The transition to digital broadcasting in Romania was stopped dead in its tracks back in August, when the government decided to put back the ASO by three years to 2015, with a DTT tender that was also under way being cancelled.
Since then it has been suggested by the regulator ANCOM that the date could be brought forward again by two years to 2013.
