Slovenia’s transition to digital broadcasting should be completed on December 1 this year.
However, not all is going to plan, at least in a technical sense. Dnevnik reports that the public broadcaster RTV has fallen behind in the deployment of digital transmitters, having “trained” only 25 out of 82 since starting the process in 2006.
Some forecasts now say that following ASO around 15% of the country will still not be covered by its digital signals.
RTV operates Slovenia’s first DTT multiplex (A), while a second (B), operated by Norway’s Norkring, while be fully functioning this September.
Despite RTV’s problems, there is at this stage no intention by the government to but back the ASO date.
