Portugal Telecom’s Meo IPTV service ended the second quarter with 702,000 subscribers, 2,000 more than the company had announced at the beginning of the month, and equivalent to 75.3% of the telco’s ADSL customer base. In all 122,000 new subscribers were added in the first half of the year including 57,000 in the second quarter.
The continued success of the pay-TV platform has its drawbacks, the impact on Capex resulting in a 3.7% year-on-year decline in EBITDA to €347 million.
Despite the state of the Portugese economy the two-year old pay-TV platform continues to innovate, launching Facebook, Oceanlook, Picasa and Flickr integration and participating in a live 3D trial at the Portugal, Estoril Open tennis.
